FAQs
-
Will I break out after a facial? It is possible. This is known as the "purging" phase, where impurities that were deep within the skin are brought to the surface. This is temporary, and a normal part of the skins healing process.
-
How often should I get a facial? It depends on your skin type and concerns, but generally getting a facial once a month is recommended for optimal skin health and maintenance.
-
If I am getting married, how soon should I start getting facial treatments? It is recommended that you start about 6 months before your wedding. This timeframe allows your skin to go through a full cycle of cell turnover and reap the benefits of consistent skincare treatments. This time also allows for any necessary adjustments and ensures your skin looks its best on your wedding day.
-
I would like to book a facial, but I do not know which one to choose? No worries! Please choose Custom Facial. At your first appointment I can consult with you, and customize which products will be best for your treatment that day.
-
Do you offer acne treatments?Yes! I am certified Acne Specialist through Face Reality Skincare. Taking a look at what is going on for you externally and internally, we will discuss diet, lifestyle habits that are triggers to acne. If you are ready to commit to clear skin, I would love to support you in your journey! You can book a virtual acne consultation or an in-studio acne facial here (maybe insert booking link??). This is a proven system, with an holistic approach with long lasting results!
-
Do I have to purchase Face Reality products for the Acne Boot Camp?Yes. I only perform treatments on clients that are consistently using a full Face Reality Home Care regimen. The home care regimen is essential to the clearing process. Acne is not cured, it is controlled by consistent product usage and lifestyle adjustments. To ensure clear skin, require clients under our care only use Face Reality Skincare products. Acne is tricky enough to treat – we do not want to take any chances with other potentially harmful or comedogenic products. The initial investment on products is $150-$200. Most of the products will last roughly 8-12 weeks depending on the product and the regimen that you are placed on.
-
What causes the skin to brown?DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is the active ingredient that causes the skin to brown. DHA is derived from sugar cane and sugar beets; reacts with the skin causing a browning effect. Our solution is also based with Aloe Vera, and contains walnut extract used as a natural skin soother, and provides natural brown coloring. It does not at all involve skin pigmentation, nor does it require UV light to initiate the color change. The effect is temporary and fades gradually over 7 to 10 days. DHA is also approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Our solution is 100% certified Organic, and PETA approved Vegan.

How to prepare for your Airbrush Tan:Proper skin preparation is essential to your airbrush tan looking its best and lasting its longest! Before you come in to be airbrushed, skin should be cleaned and the body thoroughly exfoliated. Removal of dead cells and body oils allows the sunless solution to penetrate evenly and smoothly into your skin, giving you the best, longest lasting results. Do not use any moisturizer, deodorant, perfume, makeup, bar soaps (especially Dove), or shaving products before you come in for your airbrush tan, as this can result in a lighter, streaky, blotchy, faster fading and off-color 'tan'. Women should be sure their legs are freshly shaved, as well as men's faces. Manicures, pedicures, facials and dress fittings should be done at least the day before the airbrush tan.
-
What to wear?During the application process women may go topless with bottoms. Men must wear bottoms. Some disposables are provided such as hair caps, and disposable thongs. Please wear dark loose fit clothing, and open toed shoes if possible to leave in. Bronzer may rub onto clothing, after tan is freshly applied. This is very common, and will wash right out. You will be dry before you leave.
-
How long will my tan last?Everyone is different, depending on your skin type. Your tan preparation, post tan care, and overall lifestyle will play a big factor in the life of the tan. Your Airbrush Tan should last up to 7-10 days with proper care. The key is hydration! When dead skin cells fall away so does your tan. Moisturize daily with a tan extender to avoid dry skin. This will allow the tan to fade evenly, and not be 'blotchy.' Please keep in mind shaving is a form of exfoliation, and the more you shave the faster the tan will fade. We recommend applying a tan extender lotion to keep your color fresh.
-
Post Tan CareYou should wait at least 8-12 hours prior to showering. The DHA ingredient will not react with your skin proteins if you bathe or shower before 8 hours, giving you a much lighter tanning result. If at all possible, we recommend waiting 10 hours or longer to achieve your best results. Please keep in mind certain products can assist in the fade of your tan more rapidly. Facial products such as toners, cleansers containing high amounts of alcohol, scrubs, will cause your tan to fade more quickly. Hair removal such as waxing will lighten tanned skin, and can even remove it. If you are planning to be waxed, or have any facial treatment we recommend having this done a day before your session, to ensure this does not interrupt with the application of the tan.
-
How long does the application take?A trained Airbrush Professional can have your tan applied within 6-8 minutes! We use HVLP tanning equipment. There is more airflow, larger spray coverage on the body, giving you a much quicker application, and also drying you at the same time. The entire process should take about 15 mins.
-
How should I prepare for my wax?Let hair grow out 2 to 3 weeks (about a quarter of an inch) before going in for waxing. Schedule your service early in the morning before your skin gets clammy from exercise or errands Avoid being in the sun 24 hours before and after your waxing service. Exfoliate the area to be waxed the day before your appointment with a loofah or Fur Exfoliating Scrub. Follow up with Fur Oil to soften the hair follicles. We carry a variety of wax aftercare in our studio for your convenience. Some items include moisturizing oil, exfoliating scrub, exfoliating mitt and ingrown serum.
-
Does Waxing Hurt?Depending on the area being waxed and your sensitivity level, pain associated with waxing is relatively mild and temporary for most clients. Painful waxing experiences typically come from improper application and removal of the wax resulting in tugging of the hair and pulling, bruising or lifting of the skin. Hard wax is gentler during removal as it does not adhere to the skin like soft wax.
-
How long does hair need to be for waxing? The hair to be waxed should be about 1/4 of an inch or about the size of a grain of rice. If you have recently shaved it is recommended to wait about 2-3 weeks following the last time you shaved for the best possible wax results.
-
Am I A Good Candidate For Waxing? If you fall within ANY of the following categories, you would NOT make a good candidate for waxing (also called contraindications): Use of prescription strength exfoliating (or acne) products (i.e. Retin-A, Accutane, Tazorac, Differin Gel, Tretinoin, etc). Please stop the use of topical products Retin-A at least 10 days prior to your waxing service (although it is preferred you not have used the product in at least 3 months) Accutane or other ingest-able exfoliating medications requires 6 months-1 year of a break between to your last dose and your waxing service. These products thin the skin and thus is HIGHLY LIKELY you will lift skin and then scab if wax is applied and you have not informed your service provider of your medication use. Topical or oral antibiotic use, mild exfoliating products (AHAs or BHAs), and Retinols can all cause the skin to thin thus making you vulnerable to lifting and sensitivity. Please disclose any use of these products to your service provider.
